Commercial Litigator

LMR’s Civil Litigation Practice Group is currently recruiting a commercial litigator with 5+ years of relevant experience in commercial litigation.  The successful applicants will have strong client management and team work skills.  The candidate must be able to assume responsibility for a busy and varied commercial litigation practice, including construction liens and partnership litigation.  This is an ideal position for someone who can demonstrate an ability to cultivate and retain commercial clients, has strong inter-personal and advocacy skills and who welcomes the opportunity to work in a supportive team environment.  An ability to speak and draft in French, while not mandatory, would be a strong asset.

Junior Administrative Assistant

Low Murchison Radnoff LLP, an Ottawa law firm, is looking to add a Full-Time Junior Administrative Assistant to join our Intellectual Property Team.

Primary Duties Include

  • Preparing correspondence for professionals approval/signature using precedents
  • Maintaining and updating due date lists, calendars and personal reminders of deadlines
  • Preparation and delivery of invoices
  • Updating records with changes in client contact and address information
  • Opening, maintaining and closing files
  • Faxing, photocopying, scanning
  • Other duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience in an office setting, however new graduates are welcome
  • Legal assistant/Office Administration diploma/certificate an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team oriented atmosphere

Bilingual Litigation Assistant

Low Murchison Radnoff LLP, an Ottawa law firm, is looking to add a Full-Time Bilingual Litigation Assistant to its team.

Primary Duties Include

  • Prepare Affidavits of Documents, Notice of Selection of Mediator, Notice of Examinations, Affidavits of Service, Medical Briefs, Pleadings Briefs, etc.
  • Prepare all documents for payment of minor settlements
  • Schedule examinations for discovery and all mediations
  • Obtain undertakings (prepare undertaking chart, draft letters, satisfy undertakings)
  • Maintain BF system
  • Update and maintain chart for examinations for discovery, mediations, court dates, limitation periods etc.
  • Communication with clients (by phone, e-mail, etc.)
  • Preparing correspondence for professionals approval/signature, memos to file and file updates
  • Docketing and preparation and delivery of invoices
  • Updating records with changes in client contact and address information
  • Opening, maintaining and closing files
  • Faxing, photocopying, scanning
  • Other duties as required

Required Experience/Skills/Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of litigation experience
  • Legal assistant/Law Clerk diploma/certificate an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while paying attention to detail
  • Excellent command of the English and French language is essential
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills
  • Confident and dependable, with strong initiative and ability to work both independently and in a team oriented atmosphere
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook with excellent keyboarding and grammar skills. Knowledge of Phillips Speech Exec considered an asset.
