On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, the Minister of Finance delivered the new federal budget which provided for the elimination of the Canada Child Tax Benefit (\u201cCCTB\u201d) and Universal Child Care Benefit (\u201cUCCB\u201d) and replaces them with a single, non-taxable Canada Child Benefit (\u201cCCB\u201d).<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The CCB will provide a maximum benefit of $6,400.00 per child under the age of six and $5,400.00 per child ages six through seventeen.\u00a0 In addition to the CCB, the government will continue to provide up to $2,730.00 per child eligible for the disability tax credit.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

This new change will come into effect in July, 2016.\u00a0 Payments under the CCTB and UCCB will conclude with the June, 2016 payment.<\/p>\n

Payments for the July, 2016 to June, 2017 benefit year will be based on adjusted net family income reported for the 2015 taxation year.\u00a0 The CCB will be phased out based on adjusted family net income as follows:<\/p>\n
